Society of Pilsen Historians
We are a small department with a big heart. Really. The teachers are great, which you will find out sooner or later. It is not just about lectures and assignments. The love for the field we study unites us. And we are thinking about how wonderful it would be to strengthen this bond. Student life traditionally has two faces, that is a well-known fact. Lectures and seminars during the day, some books and seminars in the afternoon, beer or wine in the evening. And we think it is important that you enjoy both sides of the coin during your studies. The teachers already take care of the beautification of the studying part, and who else can take care of a better student life than us, the students? That is why, in cooperation with the teachers, we created the SPLH project (Society of Pilsen Historians). Membership is not mandatory, it is voluntary and it is entirely up to you. If you decide to join us, you will attend meetings with us and helping us in planning events. You will be constantly working with us on something and hopefully enjoying it.
A modest magazine about history (Malý časopis historický)
The department has been publishing a student magazine, A modest magazine about history (Malý časopis historický), since the winter semester of 2021, to which all students from KHV FF and KHI FPE can contribute. If you enjoy writing, then just send your contribution to alespot@ff.zcu.cz. As for the format, two, maximum three A4 pages will be more than enough, you can also send pictures. Authors are provided with one copy for their own use, other students can pick it up in the office SO-218.

The "baptism" of historians
The community of historians used to be one big family. Knowledge was passed down from teacher to student, from generation to generation, political topics (stories, if you will) were discussed and thoughts were written down on paper. People worked hand in hand and small groups were formed. This idealized idea laid the foundation stone for what we are trying to do at SPLH. To create our own Pilsen association of historians, which will contribute to the development of humanities education. Anyone who has completed the first year of study can participate in the ceremonial passing under the patronage of SPLH.
Student history quiz
You can also apply the knowledge you gain during your studies to your student life. Since 2023, we have been organizing an annual student quiz with historical themes for prizes.
Movie nights
You can encounter history at every step, and when you get tired of books and scripts, you can come and join a movie night. We regularly vote on films in the Facebook group Studentstvo KHV (Students of KHV), which we then watch together or simply go to the cinema.
